QUOTES

We stand here today as nothing more than a representative of the millions of our people who dared to rise up against a social system whose very essence is war, violence, racism, oppression, repression and the impoverishment of an entire people.

In the winter of 2008, a group of Nigerians resident in UK first came together at the lobby of Novotel Hotel Euston London, to brainstorm on the negative perceptions of Nigeria and Nigerians in many foreign lands.

These Nigerian professionals reckon that the wind of Change blowing across the world and at the time being witnessed in America could be a catalyst for similar events in Nigeria. They felt that if Nigerians were encouraged to reflect on the state of affairs in the country there was a possibility of convincing a good majority that a change for the better was still possible in Nigeria. In other words that Nigeria’s case was not hopeless. But that for this change to be realised it must be rooted in a movement that will galvanise a critical mass of the Nigerian people to take concrete steps towards entrenching a form of government that is “by the people and for the people”.  This movement must also be centred on the grassroot/ordinary Nigeria and the middle class.

These meetings were to give birth to the idea of creating a platform that will enable Nigerians to become equal partners in the Nigerian project.  This vision is represented in arisenigeria.

A key element of our thinking is that rather than fixing blames or inciting people against the political class in place, there should be a paradigm shift.  This will include creating a strategic change group comprising passionate Nigerians who are willing to work by this formula through which we could begin fixing our problems.

We have adopted as our creed; don’t fix the blame, fix the problem. This is the only way men and women who believe in Nigeria could be enabled to harness all their constructive energies to begin the process of identifying community leaders and helping such people take on political roles and effect positive change from bottom up.

Critically our call to all Nigerians in every clime is simple: Let us aggregate our resources and leverage our reach in order to deliver political power to Nigeria’s “first eleven” at every level of government.

In our view this is the only way to ensure that those with sterling leadership skills could ever attain political power in Nigeria without the influence of money men/political Godfathers.

Our team comprise of core skilled professionals in Law, Medicine, Project Management, Accounting, Marketing, Advertising, Economics, International Diplomacy, Brand Building, Information Technology, Education, Healthcare management etc. And we are all Nigerians working for the realisation of the Nigerian Dream.
